On Monday, Coach Kirby Smart said, “I don’t have any updates on Robert Beal or Devonte Wyatt.” Just twenty-four hours later, in his post-practice press conference on Tuesday afternoon, Kirby did have an update on Beal.

“Robert Beal is clear to go,” Smart said.

Beal committed to Georgia back on July 5th, 2016, and he stayed firm on his verbal to the Bulldogs, signing with UGA on National Signing Day on February 1st. But as the first week of June came and went, he was one of three of Georgia’s 2017 signees that had not yet enrolled; the other two being Netori Johnson and Devonte Wyatt, Jr. Netori got cleared to enroll back in June. Now, with just two weeks to go before classes for UGA’s Fall Semester begins on August 14th, Beal has been given the go ahead to enroll by the NCAA. We are still waiting for word on if and when Wyatt will be cleared.

The 6 foot 4 and 244 lbs Beal graduated from Peachtree Ridge High School in May, but he actually played his senior football season at IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL. He transferred to IMG from Norcross High School after his junior season in 2015. After the 2016 football season was in the books, he transferred back to the Peach State to finish up his final semester at Peachtree Ridge.

He played outside linebacker and weakside defensive end in high school and projects to be a rush end, outside linebacker for the Bulldogs.
