During his appearance with the beat media Monday evening, Roquan Smith was asked about the battle between the defensive unit and Georgia’s developing run offense (02:13 mark in the video below).
 
 

We just feel like when the offense is doing what they’re gonna do, the offense says they gonna run it down us, and we say we want them to stroke us and we are in a stroke them back. We’re just giving each other our best shot, and that is making us better at the end of the day.

 
 
When I asked Smith which unit won the battle during Georgia’s first scrimmage, he broke into a huge smile and humbly declared that his defense won the day:
 
 

We just all got better as a team, but you know me I’ve got to go with the defense. That’s just me being a defensive player.
