Four Dawgs Named to All-Southeast Region Team

Four University of Georgia softball student-athletes have been announced All-Southeast Region award winners by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, the organization announced Thursday.

Senior shortstop Alyssa DiCarlo picked up First Team All-Region honors while junior outfielders Ciara Bryan and Alysen Febrey as well as freshman first baseman Lacey Fincher all earned Second Team accolades.

NFCA member coaches from each respective region voted on the teams, and all the honorees now become eligible for the 2019 NFCA Division I All-America squads. The 2019 NFCA Division I All-America teams will be announced at approximately 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29.

DiCarlo adds All-Region honors to her growing list of awards this season that already includes USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year top-10 finalist and First Team All-SEC. This is the third time DiCarlo has been named All-Region. Last season, she went on to be named an All-American by the NFCA.

Bryan and Febrey each appear on the All-Region team for the second season in a row. Bryan was also an All-SEC performer this season.

Fincher becomes the first Georgia rookie to be named All-Region since Cortni Emanuel in 2015.

The Southeastern Conference paced all leagues with 40 honorees, while the Pac-12 and Big 10 were right on its heels with 38 and 37, respectively.
