Georgia’s culture has become nationally regarded as one of the underlying principles critical to the Bulldogs recent success. Sedrick Van Pran and Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint are two players who embody Georgia’s moral principles as well as excel on the field. Championship runs begin with a championship culture, and Coach Kirby Smart is relying on the two seniors to lead this 2023 Georgia football team. 

One of the more underrated stories of the offseason was Sedrick Van Pran, the number one ranked center according to several draft sites, electing to return to Georgia for a senior season. After two back-to-back championships, most players would’ve taken their rings and left for the lifelong opportunity to play professional football. Van Pran decided that he has unfinished business in Athens, and is now the undisputed leader of the Georgia offensive front which very well might be the best offensive line in college football. 

Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint spoke on behalf of Sedrick’s decision to return. The receiver said, 

“When we think of a leader on the team, Sedrick is the first person you think of. He’s our core and our rock. He had an opportunity last year to go to the league, but he decided to come back for his last year. I feel like that was a big deal because there’s a lot of guys, especially on the offensive line, that look up to Sedrick and learn a lot from Sedrick.”

When Sedrick spoke on behalf of his leadership style, he emphasized trying to help younger teammates recognize their weakness and explain how they can improve. Van Pran told reporters, “I think for me, the biggest thing is making sure that I can help them with their individual skill set. Taking things that they may not potentially be good at that I may be better at and trying to help them create things that make sense.” Van Pran’s leadership has been a critical factor in helping Georgia’s offensive line remain dominant, despite injuries within the position group.

When speaking on behalf of Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, the talented pass catcher is coming off his season high in yards against UAB and a season high in receptions against South Carolina, but the veteran leader explained that he doesn’t care about stats, nor does he pay attention to what his stats are. Rosemary-Jacksaint said if the Bulldogs need him to play tight end, he’ll do it. For MRJ, it’s all about the team and winning at all costs necessary.

Georgia has a major road test this weekend against an arch rival in the Auburn Tigers. Sedrick Van Pran and Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint will be critical factors when it comes to maintaining composure in a difficult environment. Georgia’s 2021 and 2022 teams excelled due to incredible leadership, and Georgia’s senior duo look prepared to continue that tradition into the rest of the 2023 season.
