3 Things Savannah Wants to See from Georgia

1: Run the Ball.

Georgia needs to get back to what it knows. The Bulldogs need to run the ball as they have four capable backs that can tote the rock. Elijah Holyfield averages 7.5 yards a carry and continues to run with a purpose. In fact, since 2006, the team who had more rushing yards in each game was the winner. Feed Holyfield until he gets stopped then force the defense to cover your pass game. Georgia averages 226.3 yards on the ground a game. The Gators rank No. 11 in the SEC in rush defense and give up 163.14 yards. In the seven games, Florida played, its given up at least 150 yards of rushing in four games. The Gators gave up 303 against Kentucky and 222 against Charleston Southern. Georgia needs to feed its backs plain and simple. It’s what will win this game.

2: Earn Florida’s Respect

One thing the Gators are good at is pass defense. They rank as the No. 1 pass defense in the SEC allowing 160.1 yards through the air. Georgia needs to put this secondary into perspective. Florida hasn’t faced a group of receivers like this unless you want to put LSU’s offense up there and the Gators beat them. Georgia has scored 13 touchdowns through the air this season, well the Gators have allowed just five touchdowns through the air this season. Not to mention they have seven interceptions on the year. Jake Fromm and Justin Fields need to make Florida respect Georgia’s wide receivers. While running the ball will win the game, throwing it when needed can help make that defense stay spread out and on its toes.

3: Quarterbacks

Jake Fromm had a rough game against the LSU Tigers. One that has caused many fans to jump ship and call out to Justin Fields. One must remember that Fromm took this team to the National Championship game last season so when a guy does that it’s hard to pull the starting role from him. Fromm is a talented quarterback that had a terrible game. However, if this shows it wasn’t one bad game, Fields should be allowed to prove himself. Fields didn’t get that chance against LSU, but after two weeks and a lot of game planning, it wouldn’t surprise me if we didn’t see Fields come in for his own series. Now if Fromm comes out as we all know him to, then let him roll with it, but if he studders, put the freshman in and see if he can get the offense going.

SL’s Score Prediction

Georgia is one mad puppy dog, and Gator is on the menu. The Bulldogs aren’t looking to keep prisoners, and I expect to see some dominance. Elijah Holyfield and/or D’Andre Swift both tote the rock for triple digits or at least get close. It is time for both of them to have stand out games and impose their will on the Gator defense. Once that will is in the Bulldogs’ paws, then air it out and get your confidence back in your quarterback. Georgia has TOO much talent not to have one hell of an identity. I think we start to see that identity this week as Georgia defeats Florida 38-10.
