3 Things Savannah Wants to See from Georgia
1: Georgia’s Defense, Do Your Job!
Georgia’s defense needs to do its job against a tough triple option offense. Position football will be a key today, and the front guys need to be ready to play. Head coach Kirby Smart said multiple times that there is nothing like Tech’s offense, and I expect the defense to play with a chip on its shoulder. A pissed off defense will cause quite a few problems, and it’s going to be fun to see just how resilient they are this week.
2: Beat Tech with Its Own Medicine
It’s simple, run the damn ball. The Bulldogs average 257.5 yards on the ground and rank first in the SEC in rushing. Justin Fields showed out last week gaining 100 yards on the ground and showed how having two five-star quarterbacks is a good problem to have. Fields will likely see a good bit of the field this week as he can use his legs as well as some of the running backs. Georgia needs to run the ball until it doesn’t work. After rushing for well over 400 yards last week and having 300+ yards on the ground for the third week in a row, the Bulldogs will likely stick to that plan. D’Andre Swift and Elijah Holyfield could each end up with another 100-yard game.
However, it can expose Georgia Tech’s defense by airing it out as well. Jake Fromm and Fields can air it out and let Mecole Hardman, Terry Godwin, Riley Ridley, and company run after it and catch touchdowns. Either way, Georgia’s offense should be too much for Tech to handle.
3: Send the Seniors out on Top
Georgia has 25 seniors to send off today, and what better way to do it than to whoop up on the Yellow Jackets. This game is for the seniors to go out with a winning record against the in-state rivals. It is time to defend those hedges and our seniors. This game is a must win for Smart, in my opinion, because you beat Tech at home, always.
SL’s Score Prediction
Georgia has a point to prove after Tech destroyed the hedges in 2016. There is nothing like beating your in-state rivals during rivalry week. The Bulldogs need to defend their turf and the hedges after the 2016 debacle. Georgia smushes the Bugs 42-10 and sends the seniors out with a big win.
