3 Things Savannah Wants to See from Georgia

1: Balanced Offense that’s Led by the Run

Georgia needs to continue to have as balanced of an offense as possible. Kentucky ranks as the No. 4 passing defense in the SEC. The Bulldogs have an abundance of weapons like Mecole Hardman, Riley Ridley, Terry Godwin and many more. Jake Fromm needs to continue his hot streak from Florida and make sure the team can avoid third and long. If the Bulldogs can spread out the Kentucky defense that will allow Georgia to do what it does best, run the dang ball.

Even though Kentucky has the No. 3 rush defense in the SEC, Georgia needs to use its ground and pound game this week. The Bulldogs have two running backs in Elijah Holyfield and D’Andre Swift who average six yards a carry together. They have the talent and offensive line to wear down Kentucky’s defense. In October, Kentucky held Missouri to 84 rushing yards and Vanderbilt to 68 yards. However, they did give up 164 yards to Texas A&M who gave Kentucky its first loss. The winner of this game will likely be who can run the ball for more yards if the Bulldogs can get a rhythm going with Swift and Holyfield it could end up a long day for the Wildcats. I want to see the Bulldogs do what they did against the Gators and expect either Holyfield or Swift to hit triple digits. Shoot they both may be able to if this offense can run what it wants to.

2: Slow Down Benny Snell

The Bulldogs defense has a tall task. Benny Snell is 65 yards away from having a 1000 yards on the season. Granted he will likely get that, but the Bulldogs cannot allow more than 120 on the ground. It could be the game that Georgia fans have waited for all year, where we dominate the line of scrimmage and put Snell in his place. Yes, he is one of the best backs in the SEC, but they haven’t faced a team with the tenacity and grit this defense possesses. Jordan Davis has a breakout game, again, and the Bulldogs force Terry Wilson and company to get creative.

3: Assert Dominance

Georgia needs to win the momentum of this game early. The defense needs to force three and outs and keep the Wildcat defense on the field and their offense on the sidelines. Georgia’s defense needs to force Wilson to either make plays himself or force him to make it through the air. Against Missouri, the Wildcats had 11 three-and-outs and still managed to win the game. The Bulldogs cannot let this happen; they need to make sure the offense can keep a rhythm and score points. Shoot, a few turnovers would be ideal as well. Georgia needs to make Kentucky quit and with how the defense continues to improve each week it can happen.

SL’s Score Prediction

It’s time for Georgia to establish its dominance and show the Kentucky Wildcats who owns the East. The Bulldogs can not only score on the ground but through the air as well and I fully expect them to do so against the Wildcats. Despite Kentucky leading the nation in Scoring Defense at 13 points, the Bulldogs double that. Georgia’s defense slows down Benny Snell and company just enough to force plenty of three-and-outs and ultimately make Kentucky quit. The Bulldogs have yet to really make a team quit this season and this could be the game that does it.
