3 Things Savannah Wants to See from Georgia

1: Find a way to Contain Tua

Georgia isn’t a team known for blitzing a lot of defense. They’ve probably blitzed 10-12 times all season long. Well, there may be a reason for that. This week, I watched a lot on Tua Tagovailoa, and when Mississippi State put pressure on him, he wasn’t perfect. Now, he is the best quarterback in the entire country, but he can be stopped. I expect Georgia to open the floodgates and put a lot of pressure on him. Granted, that will hurt them at times, but it will also likely help them get in Tagovailoa’s head. Georgia’s defense has the talent and the depth, they have to execute it. D’Andre Walker, Jonathan Ledbetter, Jordan Davis, Tyler Clarke, and the rest of the defense, it’s time to show the world  how junkyard yall can be.

2: Keep Alabama’s Defense on Its Toes

Now for the offense side of things. Georgia like Alabama has one of the most high powered offenses in the country. The Bulldogs lead the SEC in rushing yards averaging 259.8 yards a game. Granted, Georgia hasn’t seen a defensive front like this, outside of Auburn and Florida all season, so if the Bulldogs can get the run game going, it could get interesting. Jake Fromm needs to be the leader of the offense. Yes, there are other guys that are leaders, but you know what I mean when I say Fromm needs to be that guy. He needs to channel his inner Tom Brady, Drew Bress, Peyton Manning, whoever, and play to his highest standard. Georgia has a slew of impressive wide receivers, and Fromm needs to get it to them. Use the long ball with J.J. Holloman and Mecole Hardman. Isaac Nauta needs to make some big plays. Regardless, Georgia needs to give Alabama a taste of its own medicine and beat them at their own game. Run the damn ball Georgia, but first, lets spread that defense out and expose Alabama’s youthful secondary. There will be a lot of points scored from both offenses, Georgia  needs to make sure it stays in it and scores last.

3: Stay Composed

Now, I didn’t mention this in the second thing, because it is too big of emphasis not to be one of the three things I want to see today. KEEP YOUR COMPOSURE — no stupid penalties by Georiga today. All week, we saw the secondary work on turning their heads to avoid pass interference calls. Deandre Baker needs to keep doing what he is doing and shut down whoever the Tide puts on his side. Another way for the Bulldogs to keep their composure is with time management. Especially towards the end of the game if it is close, the Bulldogs need to make sure they didn’t have any stupid mistakes earlier in the game so those three timeouts can be there if needed. And finally, Rodrigo Blankenship could be the guy in this game, and if he is asked to get the job done, I think he can do it. His veins are ice cold, and he loves a big stage. With a record-breaking season already in the bag, he is just adding on to his legacy at Georgia, what better way than to have a perfect game against the best team in the country. Rod, do your thing.

SL’s Score Prediction

This was a tough week for me as I went back and forth on my prediction. However, I’m going with my gut with this one, Georgia finds a way. D’Andre Swift gets his 1000 yards on the season and scores at least twice. Jake Fromm keeps his composure, chops away at Alabama’s youthful secondary, and Georgia’s defense shows the world that Tua isn’t invincible. Kirby Smart becomes the first Nick Saban assistant to get the win, and what better way than on the SEC Championship stage.

Georgia has a big chip on its shoulder and finishes its mini revenge tour with a 42-35 win over Alabama and wins back-to-back SEC Championships.
