SOCCER: Bulldogs Face Samford on the Road

Georgia soccer is set to conclude its non-conference slate with one road and one home game this weekend. The Bulldogs travel to Birmingham, Alabama to face Samford (1-5) on tonight at 8:00 p.m. ET, before returning home to play Coastal Carolina (5-1), for the first time in program history, on Sunday, September 10 at 2:00 p.m. at the Turner Soccer Complex.

 
Georgia enters the weekend holding a 3-3 record, including two wins on the road.

Former Bulldog coaching against alma mater
 
Georgia soccer alum, Carrie Patterson, is in her fourth season as an assistant coach at Coastal Carolina.
 
 
Patterson was an All-American player at Georgia from 2006-2009. She was a four-time All-Southeastern Conference first team selection and earned All-America second team honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and Soccer Buzz in 2007. In 2006, Patterson took home SEC Freshman of the Year honors and was a Soccer Buzz Freshman All-American. She still stands as the Bulldogs’ all-time leader in points, goals and multiple goal games, as well as ranking second in career assists.
 
 
Following her collegiate playing days, Patterson was drafted by the Philadelphia Independence of Women’s Professional Soccer in 2010. She then signed with the W-League’s Vancouver Whitecaps FC in 2011, where she helped the squad advance to the Final Four.
 
 
Scouting the other Bulldogs
 
Samford’s lone win of the season came against Alabama State on Friday, Sept. 1 as the Bulldogs played to a stomping 5-0 victory.
 
 
Samford is led by senior Jermaine Seoposenwe who has taken 21 shots and scored four goals and on the season. She scored two goals against Michigan State earlier this season.
 
 
History at Samford
 
Billy Lesesne’s first win as the head coach of the Georgia Bulldogs came at Samford on Sept. 13, 2015 with a final score of 1-0.
 
 
Scouting the Chanticleers
 
Due to Hurricane Irma, Coastal Carolina’s Friday night game against Jacksonville has been cancelled.
 
 
The Chanticleers are led by senior Daniella Famili who has scored six goals, one assist, and taken 16 shots this season, 12 of which were on target.
