Junior defender Caroline Waters and freshman midfielder Sydney Shultis both earned All-SEC honors the league announced Sunday morning.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Waters was named Second Team All-SEC for her efforts on the 2015 season. The Woodstock, Georgia native anchored the Bulldogs’ defense that recorded four shutouts on the year. She scored the game-winning goal against No. 4 Texas A&M on Sept. 27. The Bulldogs 2-1 defeat against the Aggies marked the highest ranked team a UGA squad has ever defeated. Waters heads into the SEC tournament with one assist and leads all Georgia field players with 1,397 minutes played, including starting every match she has played in.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Shultis has been one of the brightest young players in the league earning SEC All-Freshman Team honors. The McDonough, Georgia native scored her first career goal at perhaps the most crucial time of the season in the 83rd minute against No. 16 Auburn. Shultis’ game-winner handed the Tigers their first home loss of the season and was the win that ultimately propelled UGA into the SEC tournament. Shultis has one goal, one assist and 1,119 minutes played on 13 starts this season.
