Georgia graduate senior Summer Burnett earned a spot on the 13th annual women’s soccer SEC Community Service team, announced by the conference on Thursday.

Burnett is the epitome of a well-rounded student-athlete. Not only did she graduate cum laude with a bachelor’s in accounting, she was inducted to the University of Georgia’s Athletic Association Leadership Academy. In addition to being the co-president and soccer representative of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), she is currently pursuing a master’s degree in accounting.

The Makakilo, Hawaii native organizes student-athlete events and volunteers for Relay for Life, Athens PBJ for the homeless, and the Barrow Elementary pajama drive. She also coordinates SAAC participation in Special Olympics.

A two-year captain of the soccer team, Burnett traveled to Costa Rica as part of the Souls for Souls group to give shoes to children in need. She also participates in the “Learn, Play, Excel” program at Georgia and UGA Miracle. Lastly, she has been involved in Red-Cross smoke detector installation and the “No More” campaign.

The SEC sponsors Community Service Teams for all 21 league-sponsored sports. The Community Service Team highlights an athlete from each school who gives back to his or her community in superior service efforts.
