ATHENS, Ga. – The University of Georgia has been selected to host the 2018 NCAA Athens Regional, May 18-20. The 7th-seeded Bulldogs will host the 10th Regional in program history at Jack Turner Stadium.
Georgia will host California, Northwestern, and Harvard in the four-team, double elimination tournament beginning Friday, May 18. Georgia will play Harvard Friday at 2:30 p.m., EDT, on the SEC Network. The tournament will kick off Friday between Northwestern and California at 12 p.m. on ESPNU.
The Bulldogs are making their 17th-consecutive and 17th overall NCAA postseason appearance in program history, all under head coach Lu Harris-Champer. Georgia is 62-35 all-time in NCAA Tournament action, advancing to nine Super Regionals and three Women’s College World Series. The 2009 and 2010 seasons saw the Bulldogs advance to the Final Four.
A total of 64 teams were selected to the NCAA Tournament with 32 conferences being awarded automatic qualification, while the remaining 32 slots were filled with at-large selections to complete the bracket.
In Super Regional action, eight sites play host to a best-of-three game series with the winners earning one of eight spots in the NCAA Division I Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City.
