BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southeastern Conference has named senior outfielder Cortni Emanuel this week’s SEC Player of the Week.
The Missouri City, Texas native hit .778 last weekend against Alabama with a .833 on-base clip. Five of her seven hits never left the infield, bunting for a hit twice against the Tide. She added four stolen bases on the weekend; now has 46 on the season, a career best.
Emanuel moved into second all-time with 318 hits at Georgia. She scored the tying run in the bottom of the seventh of Saturday’s comeback win over Alabama, clinching the series for the first time since 2005. Her RBI single to short Sunday put Georgia on the board in the bottom of the fourth with two out.
This is Emanuel’s second SEC Player of the Week award, winning it for the first time May 8, 2017. She’s the third Bulldog to garner the title this season, joining Kendall Burton (Feb. 12) and Justice Milz (Apr. 3).
Georgia travels to Oxford, Mississippi this weekend for the final regular-season series against Ole Miss.
