The No. 10 Georgia softball team (20-3) split its opening day of the Holy City Showdown, winning 10-4 over Chattanooga (13-11) before falling 2-1 to host College of Charleston (13-8) on Friday.
 
 
The Bulldogs are back in action for day two on Saturday with Charleston Southern at 2:30 p.m. ET followed by Michigan State at 7 p.m. ET.
 
 
Game One—No. 10 Georgia 10, Chattanooga 4

With eight runs in the sixth inning, Georgia sealed its 10-4 win over the Mocs.

Kaylee Puailoa was big at the plate after going 3-for-4, including a bases-clearing triple in the explosive frame, with a pair of runs scored. Cortni Emanuel and Alyssa DiCarlo each grabbed two hits each.

Brittany Gray (6-1) earned the win after pitching the final 1.2 innings with three hits and a run allowed to go with three strikeouts.

Tina Iosefa brought in the game’s first run in the opening frame for an early Georgia lead, but Chattanooga’s Criket Blanco put up a three-run home run in the fourth to erase it. The home run would be the only runs allowed by starter Chelsea Wilkinson, who gave up four hits and struck out four.

Georgia cut it to 3-2 in the fifth after a Chattanooga error and wild pitch scored Dickey then took the lead in the sixth with eight runs scoring off of seven hits, including the Puailoa triple and Alex Hugo double.
 
 
Game Two—College of Charleston 2, No. 10 Georgia 1

Scoring in the first inning would be all College of Charleston needed to take a 2-1 win over the Bulldogs.

The Cougars put up two quick runs in the first after a single and double put runners in scoring position for an error on the throw toward home to plate the runs. The lead held for two innings before Iosefa opened the fourth with a liner over the left field wall to cut it by one.

The Bulldogs left four on base after its offensive inning in the fourth, totaling seven in the contest. Chelsea Wilkinson came in during that same and held the Cougars scoreless for the remainder of the game, giving up a lone triple in the bottom sixth while striking out six.

Gray (6-2) took the loss after tossing 3.1 innings with five hits and one earned run. The sophomore also struck out six while walking a pair. C. Emanuel and Iosefa each notched a pair of hits, as the Bulldogs outhit the Cougars 8-6 for the contest.
