The Georgia softball team dropped game one in their weekend road series with Arkansas, 6-2, on Friday night in Fayetteville.
The Razorbacks finished the game with four home runs while totaling eight hits. Kylie Bass (7-3) took the loss after going three frames with four hits and a walk while striking out three. Brittany Gray came in for relief in the fourth, allowing three runs on four hits.
Georgia collected 10 hits in the game off of Autumn Storms (16-13). Cortni Emanuel and Alyssa DiCarlo tabbed two each while C. Emanuel and Kendall Burton scored the Bulldogs’ runs.
Arkansas took the lead in the second with a two-out home run from Madison Yannetti before Nicole Schroeder hit a two-run home run in the fourth. Another two-run hit came in the fifth from A.J. Belans while the final home run came from Katie Warrick for an insurance run in the sixth.
The Bulldogs threatened early, as C. Emanuel reached third in the first before being stranded. The offense broke through in the sixth to make it a 5-2 game with RBI fielder’s choices from Maeve McGuire and Lacey Sumerlin.
Georgia again looked poised for runs in the seventh with Alysen Febrey and Burton in scoring position, but Georgia couldn’t capitalize, finishing the game with seven left on base.
