[su_spacer size=”10″] The eighth-ranked Georgia softball team is back at home for the first time in nine games when it hosts a doubleheader against Wright State, on Wednesday, March 4 at 4 p.m., and 6 p.m. Georgia enters the weekend with an overall record of 17-2. Wright State is 0-9 on the year.

[su_spacer size=”10″] The Bulldogs stayed put in each of the two national polls this week and is a top-10 team in each. Georgia is ranked eighth by the NFCA and seventh by USA Softball. The Bulldogs are one of nine SEC teams ranked.

[su_spacer size=”10″] Chelsea Wilkinson threw the first perfect game of her career and the first by a Georgia pitcher since 2008 against Omaha on March 1. Wilkinson faced just 15 batters and recorded seven strikeouts in the win.

[su_spacer size=”10″] Brittany Gray and Wilkinson combined for a no-hitter against Saint Francis immediately following Wilkinson’s perfect game. It was the fourth no-hitter of the year by the Georgia pitching staff, the most no-hitters in a season since 2004.

[su_spacer size=”10″] Georgia recorded season highs in both hits and runs scored in its 16-0 win over Towson on Feb. 26. The Bulldogs scored their 16 runs on 19 hits. It was the most hits in a game since March 8, 2013 when Georgia recorded 20 hits against Delaware State.

[su_spacer size=”10″] Georgia returns to the road for its first Southeastern Conference series of the year when it heads to Starkville, Miss., for a three-game set against Mississippi State that begins on Friday, March 6 and will wrap up Sunday, March 8.
