Game One—No. 10 Georgia 9, Charleston Southern 1 (5)
Long ball mixed in with small ball led Georgia to a 9-1 win in five innings over Charleston Southern.
Iosefa put up a pair of two-run home runs along with a double to go perfect on the day at the plate. The senior tied her career high with six RBI, the third time this season a Bulldog had six RBI in a contest. C. Emanuel followed suit with a 4-for-4 effort, also tying her career high, along with three runs scored and two stolen bases.
Brittany Gray (7-2) earned the win, putting in 4.1 innings of work with four hits and a solo home run as the only run allowed. The sophomore struck out six while walking one. Kylie Bass finished the game with one hit to her line.
Iosefa and Maeve McGuire made it a 4-0 game with each tabbing a home run in the first. Two more runs scored in the second after three consecutive bunt singles set up runners for Iosefa’s double.
The Lady Bucs added their run in the third, but Iosefa’s second home run and a walk-off wild pitch sealed the run-rule win in the fifth with one out remaining.
Game Two—No. 10 Georgia 5, Michigan State 0
Chelsea Wilkinson highlighted game two with a one-hit shutout performance against Michigan State.
Wilkinson (11-2) allowed four baserunners in the game with a hit, walk and two hit by pitches while she struck out seven. Wilkinson had three innings where the senior sat the Spartans down in order.
The Bulldog lineup had nine hits in the game, as McGuire, Iosefa and Alex Hugo each knocked down a pair apiece.
McGuire got the scoring started in the second, as she hit her second home run of the day. The shot over right field brought in Alyssa DiCarlo after she doubled to open the frame. With two outs and bases loaded after a fielder’s choice and two bunt singles from C. Emanuel and Hugo, Iosefa walked in a run to set it at 3-0.
Iosefa continued to have the hot bat, placing a hit right in the gap of right center to plate two, and give the Bulldogs a 5-0 cushion.
