Georgia softball’s Maeve McGuire ended a back-and-forth affair at Jack Turner Stadium in walk-off fashion, as the No. 10 Bulldogs (18-2) defeated visiting Boston College (12-9) in the 10th inning by a score of 4-3 on Tuesday night.
 
 
McGuire (2-5, 2B, RBI) drove in Tina Iosefa from second on a two-out shot that went over the centerfielder’s head.
 
 
Georgia’s Chelsea Wilkinson (10-1) picked up the victory following two innings of scoreless relief while BC’s Allyson Frei (7-5) was credited with the loss after giving up the lone run in the 10th inning.
 
 
Bulldog pitcher Kylie Bass added five innings of relief in which she sat down all 15 batters she faced, including four by way of strikeouts. The freshman improved her team-leading ERA to 0.27 in the process. At one point Bass and Wilkinson combined to sit down 19-straight Eagles.
 
 
The Eagles struck first in the top of the third inning on an RBI single by shortstop Jessie Daulton. Georgia quickly responded with two runs in the bottom half on a sacrifice fly by Kaylee Puailoa and an errant throw by the centerfielder.
 
 
BC took the lead for a second time with two more in the top of the fourth, but Georgia’s Puailoa again came through with a sacrifice fly in the fifth to even the score at 3-all and set up the extra-inning affair.
