College Station, TX was not kind to the No. 22 Georgia softball team on Friday as the Lady Diamond Dogs fell 10-3 to No. 4 Texas A&M.

The Aggies finished the game with 11 hits on three Georgia pitchers, as Amanda Ablan (1-2) took the loss after starting the game with four walks and hit by pitch for three runs against her. Mary Wilson Avant did a majority of the work with nine hits allowed in three innings while Bekah Farris finished off the final two frames with two hits and two strikeouts.

Ciara Bryan led the offense with a pair of hits, as Georgia totaled seven off of Samantha Show (15-3). The heart of the Bulldog lineup each tallied a hit with Maeve McGuire reaching in all three at-bats with a hit and two walks.

Georgia took an early 2-0 lead after Cortni Emanuel worked her way around with a hit, stolen base, groundout and RBI single from Lacey Sumerlin. C. Emanuel then recorded one of her two RBI of the game in the second, as the Bulldogs capitalized on two errors to have Jordan Doggett score.

The Aggies took advantage of six free passes in the bottom second to take a 4-2 lead. The home team increased its lead in the next frame to 7-2 with five hits, including a solo home run from Show. The pitcher would go yard again in the fifth to set up an 8-2 lead.

The Bulldogs took back a run in the sixth on C. Emanuel’s bases-loaded groundout to score Kendall Burton. However, Texas A&M gave itself more comfort room with a two-run home run in the bottom half to finish off its win.
