A two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning from freshman Lyndi Rae Davis hoisted Georgia over USC Upstate 5-3 at Jack Turner Stadium.
Sara Mosley had a huge night for the Dawgs including two hits and plating three runs for the Georgia team. Mosley’s home run in the game made her 14th on the season. Lacey Fincher also had a night for the Dawgs and added on two more hits.
“I’m just having fun. I’m just going out there and playing Georgia softball and just doing me,” said Mosley.
Madison Kerpics went three innings in the circle and allowed two runs on four hits. Britton Rogers came in as relief and notched the win for the Dawgs. Rogers went four innings and gave up only one run.
The Spartans hopped on the board first in the third with an RBI single. The Dawgs answered back in the bottom of the inning. Sydney Kuma hit a double off the center field wall. Mosley then blasted a two-run shot to give the Dawgs the 2-1 lead.
USC tied the game up in the fourth with a lead-off home run. The Spartans had another homerun in the fifth to take the lead again. In the bottom of the inning, Mosley plated Mackenzie Puckett to tie the game at three.
A scoreless sixth and seventh inning sent the game into extra innings.
A leadoff single for the Dawgs after a fielder’s choice landed a runner on first with two outs in the bottom of the eighth. Davis then sent one down Milledge to walk it off for the Dawgs with a two-run homer.
Georgia will be back in action Friday against LSU at Jack Turner Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
