The Southeastern Conference has named Georgia infielder Lacey Fincher the SEC Co-Freshman of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Fincher recorded the second-highest batting average on the team last week, hitting .538 and slugged a team-best 1.077. The Tanner Williams, Alabama native drove in six runs while hitting a double and two home runs. She also touched home seven times, a team-best over five games last week at Jack Turner Stadium.
In Sunday’s game against UAB, Fincher recorded her first career multi-home run game, knocking two while driving in a season-best four RBI on the day.
In the field, Fincher started two games as the designated player while seeing substitute time behind the plate in the win over Presbyterian. She started the final three games of the week at first base.
The last Bulldog to garner Freshman of the Week honors was Amanda Ablan on May 8, 2017. Fincher share the honors this week with Kentucky’s Kayla Kowalik.
Georgia hosts the UGA Classic this weekend beginning Friday. The Bulldogs host Bowling Green, Elon, and Western Illinois at Jack Turner Stadium.
