After leading 3-1 entering the seventh inning, Georgia (46-19) saw its lead slip away due to a late rally from fourth-seeded Auburn (56-10), which used a three-run seventh to snatch a 4-3 victory from the Bulldogs on Saturday night at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium.
 
 
The Tigers entered the final frame with four hits for the game, but they claimed three in the seventh in addition to a Georgia error as they plated three runs to come away with the win.
 
 

 
 
With the loss, the Bulldogs will face SEC foe LSU in an elimination game on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2. Should Georgia win, they will take on the winner of Saturday’s game between Oklahoma and Michigan at 8:30 p.m. ET on Sunday.
 
 
Auburn hopped on top in the first inning after some self-inflicted damage by the Bulldogs, who allowed the leadoff hitter to reach third on a single, wild pitch and a throwing error. She came in to score two batters later on a sacrifice fly to right as the Tigers claimed a 1-0 lead.
 
 
Georgia answered in the second, using a leadoff double from Alex Hugo and a RBI knock from Katie Browne two batters later to even the game at one run apiece. The Bulldogs then took the lead the following inning as Samantha LaZear showcased her speed, leading off with an infield single. She then advanced to third after back-to-back bunts and came in to score on a wild pitch for a 2-1 Georgia lead.
 
 

 
 
After Hugo ended the top of the fourth with a slick sliding play to field a grounder, she led off the bottom of the frame with a single and came in to score on a Maeve McGuire RBI double, giving the Bulldogs a 3-1 advantage.
 
 
Auburn mounted a seventh-inning rally, putting its first three batters on base and scoring a run after two singles sandwiched around an error. A single from Emily Carosone to right field then knotted the game at three runs apiece and chased Chelsea Wilkinson from the game.
 
 
Brittany Gray entered to face Carlee Wallace, inducing a flyout for the frame’s first out. A fielder’s choice then allowed the game’s decisive run to score from third as Auburn claimed the 4-3 lead and the win.
