In the top of the second inning, second baseman Ryan McKay tripled off the left field wall after Condon was not able to track the ball down. With one out, third baseman Dillon Kark singled to center to make the score 2-1 Georgia. The next at bat, shortstop Randy Seymour ended Marsh’s night after his single put a runner in scoring position. The Spartans would then pull off a double steal and cash both runs in after an RBI single from Frank. Left fielder Nick Williams extended the Spartans lead with another single to make the score 4-2 Michigan State. Pitcher DJ Radtke relieved Gillespie, but hit the first batter he faced, loading the bases with two outs. Radtke then walked designated hitter Christian Williams to make the score 5-2.
