The Georgia men’s basketball team earned a number six seed for next week’s Southeastern Conference Championship Tournament in Nashville, Tennessee. The Bulldogs defeated Alabama, 70-63, in Saturday’s regular-season finale. The win over the Crimson Tide was their third straight win and conference win in a row and improved their record to 17-12 overall and 10-8 in SEC conference play.

Georgia opens SEC Tournament play on Thursday night against number 11 seed Mississippi State in game number five of the tournament, and UGA’s game will follow game four which features, number 7 seed Ole Miss taking on number 10 seed Alabama on Thursday night at 7:00 PM ET. Georgia’s game is scheduled to start approximately 25 minutes after game four.

Back on February 14th, Georgia defeated Mississippi State 66-57 on the road in Starkville with Yante Maten leading the way with a career-high 25 points. Charles Mann also had a season-high 21 points to help the Dawgs defeat State. Georgia currently leads the series with Mississippi State with 56 wins to 53 losses all-time and this includes a 10-2 record versus the Bulldogs from the west in SEC Tournament play. Georgia and Mississippi State last faced each other in the SEC Tournament in 2012, where the UGA won 71-61.
