Georgia wins 10th Straight, Downs Arkansas 76-66

The Georgia Bulldogs Men’s basketball team defeated the Arkansas Razorbacks by a score of 76-66, giving the Bulldogs their 10th straight win. Justin Hill led the team in scoring with a season-high 19 points, followed by Noah Thomasson with 15 of his own.

Once again, the student section in Stegman Coliseum was rocking, with students filling the upper deck to the last row minutes before tip-off. This gave the Bulldogs early momentum, leading to a 6-0 run to start the game. With 3:56 left in the half, freshman Blue Cain electrified the home crowd with a fast break dunk after one of Arkansas’ nine first-half turnovers, putting the Bulldogs up by 13. Georgia’s defense stood strong in the first half, holding the Razorbacks to 24 points with only one three-point basket.

Though Arkansas had their struggles from the field, they managed to keep the Bulldogs within reach. The Razorbacks cut the lead to six with just under 12 minutes to go, but Blue Cain drained a three-pointer shortly after to swing the momentum back to the Dawgs. Arkansas still managed to stay within a few scores, but a three-pointer from Silas Demary Jr. extended the lead to eight with 1:03 remaining, ending their hopes of a comeback.

The Bulldogs are now 2-0 in conference play for the first time since the 2013-14 season. They will host fifth-ranked Tennessee this Saturday at noon. If Coach White’s Bulldogs can pull off the upset, Joe Lunardi may have to add Georgia into the mix of teams with realistic NCAA Tournament hopes.
