Georgia equestrian seniors and team captains Meg O’Mara and Claudia Spreng have been named SEC Riders of the Month. O’Mara received the honor in Equitation on the Flat, while Spreng is recognized for her rides in Reining throughout the month of February.

This is the third SEC Rider of the Month accolade for O’Mara this season. She was previously named Equitation on the Flat Rider of the Month in November and recognized in October for her rides in Equitation Over Fences.

This month, O’Mara rode to a perfect 4-0 record to remain undefeated throughout the season in Equitation on the Flat. She defeated her opponents by an average of 10.25 points and scored her career-best, 95, in back-to-back meets. The Rumson, New Jersey native earned three Most Outstanding Performance (MOP) honors, two of which were against conference opponents. O’Mara has also been named the EquiFit Equitation on the Flat Rider of the Month by the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA).

This is the first Rider of the Month accolade of Spreng’s career. The New Smyrna Beach, Florida native rode to a 3-1 record in Reining, including a 2-1 mark against conference opponents. She defeated her opponents by an average of 2.16 points and earned two MOP honors this month, including one on the road against Auburn. The Reining squad rode to a 4-0 record in February, to improve to 9-3 on the season.

O’Mara, Spreng, and the fifth-ranked Georgia Bulldogs are set to conclude regular season competition this week as the team travels to California to take on the Bulldogs of Fresno State on Friday, March 3 at 1 p.m. ET.
