Van Wyk becomes the third Bulldog to win a weekly recognition from the SEC this season, joining Connor Creasy as the second player to be named Golfer of the Week. This marks the first time Georgia has had three SEC weekly recognitions since the 2021-22 season.

“Ben played really well out there at Harding Park on an extremely difficult golf course,” head coach Chris Haack said. “His high level of play gave us the comfort to rally around him as a team and get the victory as well. He did an incredible job of leading our team this past weekend. We are hopeful he will continue to play well at Calusa Pines in our tournament this weekend and continues to ride the momentum into the SEC Championships.”

The George, South Africa native earned his best finish of the season of t-3rd at The Goodwin, shooting three-under-par, 207 for his fourth top-five finish of his career. Van Wyk helped lead the team to its second tournament win of the season, marking the fifth time in the last six seasons Georgia has won multiple event titles. His total first and second rounds of 69 and 67 upped his season total of rounds in the 60s to seven and is now at 30 in his career.

Van Wyk began the tournament with an eagle, finishing number 10, a 562-yard hole, in three strokes on round one. He finished as one of eight in the 168-golfer field to card an eagle and one of 15 to shoot a round of 67 or better. He finished the event with the second-best average on par fives at 4.17, earning three birdies and an eagle on the course’s two par five holes, also shooting par-or-better on 45 of 54 holes.

Georgia’s final tournament of the regular season will come in Naples, Fla. as the team participates in the Calusa Cup at the Calusa Pines Golf Club. The Bulldogs will be joined by host Iowa, No. 16 Florida, No. 15 Georgia Tech, No. 34 Wake Forest, No. 30 Purdue, Miami (OH) and Nebraska.
