Opening Tip Storylines
» Georgia travels to Baton Rouge for a top-15 showdown with No. 14-ranked LSU on Thursday. Tip time is set for 8:30 p.m. ET/7:30 p.m. CT on the SEC Network.
» The Lady Bulldogs are currently in fifth place in the SEC standings. A win on Thursday could move Georgia into a tie for fourth with LSU.

MBB: Dawgs Fall to Gators
Despite a strong second-half comeback, the University of Georgia men’s basketball team fell to Florida, 72-63, before 9,929 spectators Wednesday evening at Exactech Arena.
Sophomore Kario Oquendo led Georgia (6-18, 1-10 SEC) and nearly reached a double-double with 22 points on 7-for-19 shooting, along with a team-high eight rebounds and four steals. Tonight marked Oquendo’s 15th double-digit performance of the season and eighth in league play. Graduate Aaron Cook tallied 14 points, while redshirt-senior Braelen Bridges pitched in with 12 points on 4-for-6 shooting. The Bulldogs shot 37.5 percent from the field on the night.
“I thought our guys executed in a lot of good ways,” said Georgia head coach Tom Crean following the game. “Again it’s the second game in the row where we’re not scoring and the other team is… they have a cushion but weren’t able to take momentum away from us. Our guys came back out in the second half and go right back at it. It’s a tough way to lose. They are a good team. Our kids are putting so much into this, it’s just a tough way to lose on the road.”
In a slow defensive battle, Florida (16-8, 6-5 SEC) took a 9-4 lead into the opening media timeout. The Bulldogs immediately responded with a straight-away 3-pointer from redshirt-senior Noah Baumann and a trip to the free-throw line by Oquendo to draw within two. Florida countered the Georgia attack with a quick 11-2 run and eventually took a 16-point lead, 33-17, it’s the largest lead of the game. The Bulldogs closed out the half with a strong defensive performance, holding the Gators scoreless for over the final three minutes, to enter the locker room down eight.
Both squads came out firing early in the second half, and the Gators extended their lead back to 13. Georgia cut the lead back to single-digits, but Florida continued to match the Bulldogs bucket-for-bucket before going on a 6-1 run to draw within six with 14:21 remaining. However, the Gators regrouped and took a 56-45 lead thanks to a 3-pointer by Myreon Jones.
With 5:00 left, Graduate Aaron Cook sparked a 10-0 run for the Bulldogs thanks to a pair of deep balls and drew Georgia within three of the Gators for the first time since the opening minutes of the game, but Florida responded thanks to a pair of Georgia turnovers. Florida would go on to win 72-63 despite a strong second-half performance but the Bulldogs.

The preseason 12th-ranked Georgia softball team will open the 2022 season Thursday evening when the Bulldogs takes on UCF in Orlando, Florida to open The CFX Classic.
Georgia is set to take on Longwood, Minnesota, and Fresno State in six total games on opening weekend at the UCF Softball Complex. UCF, Minnesota, and Fresno State begin the season all receiving votes in the NFCA Preseason Poll.

BASEBALL: 2022 TV Schedule Set
The 2022 television coverage for the 14th-ranked Georgia baseball team has been finalized after ESPN and the Southeastern Conference announced the schedule Wednesday.
Georgia will be featured at least nine times across the ESPN/SEC Networks as part of the 2022 SEC Baseball television package. The first of these nine games will be the league opener on March 18 at Foley Field against 2021 national champion Mississippi State. All 34 Georgia home games will be available to view on television or streamed online exclusively as SEC Network+ events and available on ESPN.com and the ESPN app through participating providers. The SEC starts the season with eight teams ranked in the top 25 of preseason polls.
All 56 regular season Bulldog games will be available on the Georgia Bulldog Sports Network. All Georgia baseball games will be carried locally on WRFC 960 AM as it will serve as the primary home for all broadcasts. Fans can listen to every game online for free through the official website of the Bulldogs, georgiadogs.com, and the Georgia Bulldogs app. Also, games that do not conflict with basketball broadcasts will be available on the free Varsity Network App here: https://thevarsitynetwork.com/audioapplink.
The 2022 baseball season opens Feb. 18 as the Bulldogs play host to Albany in a three-game series at Foley Field. Ike Cousins head baseball coach Scott Stricklin is in his ninth season leading the Bulldogs. Georgia is ranked in the top 25 of four preseason polls.
