ANNOUNCERS – DAVE NEAL & DJ SHOCKLEY

Georgia and Mississippi State both are limping into this game so to speak. Georgia still hasn’t competed since a blowout loss to Florida and they are extremely banged up on the injury front. Mississippi State boarded a plane from Starkville headed to Athens on Friday with only 49 scholarship players aboard due to positive COVID test and subsequent contact tracing. Saturday night its a battle of contrasting styles, but it may end up being a war of attrition as well.

In press conferences this week, Kirby Smart alluded to the fact that defending Mike Leach’s Air Raid is a totally different animal than what you see on a week to week basis. Smart went so far as to say, “they make you defend differently than normal and to do things you don’t normally do.” Leach and company are going to throw it a ton and Georgia is think in the secondary right now. Hopefully, for the defensive backs’ sake, they utilized the postponement of the Missouri game and practice this week to get well conditioned, at least to the same amount as the MSU wide outs. The Dawgs defensive front can help alleviate stress put on the secondary with a good pass rush. Georgia is currently 2nd in the SEC in sacks and they’ll have plenty of opportunities to improve upon that tonight.

Of course, what everybody is wanting to see is……. whether or not Georgia will wear black jersey! Ha, okay, it may be the offense lead by JT Daniels. However, I would expect to see black jerseys and the light show in the 4th quarter in an effort to impress recruits that will be in attendance, of which there will be many, across different classes. Daniels and the Georgia offense will be highly anticipated and highly scrutinized for sure. Can Daniels improve upon the poor accuracy that has plagued the QB position at Georgia for the ladder part of 2019 and the last 3 games in this 2020 season? He should have plenty of support as MSU is think due to COVID on the defensive line and I’d expect Zamir White to get nearly 20 carries following a dearth of them in the Florida game. Big plays will be there to be made. Receivers have been running open all year for the Dawgs, but can Daniels be the one them hits them in stride?
