Georgia received good news on Friday as we can confirm that Cal transfer Demetris Robertson is eligible for the 2018 season. This latest addition adds the former No. 1 wideout from the 2016 class.
Roberston chose Georgia over Alabam, West Virginia, and Texas. Head coach Kirby Smart recruited Robertson to Alabama and Georgia for years before his decision to attend Cal. He commented on Robertson’s situation during on Tuesday during SEC Media Days.
“I’ve known Demetris for a long time. He’s a kid I recruited since the ninth, tenth grade in Savannah. I had a really good relationship with him through recruiting,” Smart commented. “We got to develop that relationship even further when he decided to go to Cal. Him coming back– we are excited to have him back in our program.”
Back in 2016, Roberston was one of the most explosive prospects. He continued that during his freshman campaign at Cal. During his first season, he caught 50 passes for 767 yards and seven touchdowns. With those stats, he would have led Georgia in catch and yardage numbers in 2017. He would have tied Javon Wims for the team lead in receiving touchdowns.

Georgia’s gaining more than just another speedy weapon on the outside. They got a guy who can catch short passes and make defenders miss. Roberston can take it the distance. He played three sports in high school and often seems to be at his best in big situations. After this season, the Bulldogs lose Terry Godwin, Jayson Stanley, and Ahkil Crumpton.
