Georgia:

Two of Georgia’s most significant victories over the Yellow Jackets came in 1942 and 1946, as they won highly ranked showdowns in Athens 34-0 and 35-7 en route to national and SEC crowns.

Legendary Hall of Fame Georgia coach Vince Dooley posted a 3-0 record against Tech’s legend Bobby Dodd, highlighted by a top-10 showdown taken by the Bulldogs 23-14 between the hedges in 1966.

The greatest college football player ever, Herschel Walker broke the NCAA freshman rushing record in 1980, topping the mark in clinching a 38-20 win over Tech with a 67-yard touchdown run in Athens.

Ga Tech:

The Yellow Jackets 1994 College World Series team was led by a trio of standout sluggers, future
big leaguers Nomar Garciaparra, Jason Varitek and Jay Payton.

In 1990, Tech advanced to the Final Four, where they fell to UNLV, on the strength of the “Lethal Weapon 3” backcourt of Kenny Anderson, Dennis Scott and Brian Oliver.

Bobby Dodd led the Yellow Jackets to back-to-back SEC championships in 1951 and 1952, as Tech posted records of 11-0-1 and 12-0, culminating with Orange and Sugar Bowl wins.
