Georgia Football: Florida Week Tuesday Practice Report

Georgia had a beautiful crisp day on Tuesday afternoon for practice. The team still had the business like buzz surrounding them.  Steve and I break down our takeaways from Tuesday’s practice.

Savannah’s Offense Report

— When the media first got out there, the team was running through an 11 on 11 drill. Fields was the quarterback and ran an RPO play before breaking down into individual positions.

— Jim Chaney continued to have his tight ends work through live blocks. He told his guys, “Let’s make today our best day!”

— Georgia’s OL worked through combo blocks, and I noticed that Own Condon worked at second-string right tackle through most of the drills we saw.

— Can note that Ben Cleveland was in full pads off to the side working with a trainer. He didn’t work through any drills but was working on getting up and down in his stance and getting comfortable on his leg. Kirby Smart did say that he is running in water and other stuff in rehab, he just isn’t cleared for play yet.

— The receivers worked through a ball security drill and some cutting drills.

— Coley had the quarterbacks work through a footwork drill that included check downs. Fromm went first, and Fields followed. The first time the quarterbacks through they would throw three balls, checking the first guy, then the second and finally the third. Then the second time they went through it was more of a reading drill with quick throws at the same time.

— Can note that the Steelers had a scout at practice today watching the offense and some of the defense.

Steve’s Defense Report

D'Andre Walker (15)

— Tray Scott told the DL, “Keep your knees down and keep your hips down through this drill!” This drill was where the worked under the chute getting the edge on the line of scrimmage.

— DaQuan Hawkins-Muckle (undisclosed) still absent from practice

— David Marshall (foot) also absent from practice. His timetable is uncertain at this point.

—  The New York Giants and Baltimore Ravens scouts were in attendance.

Richard LeCounte (2)

— Really good quote today from Kirby targeting Richard LeCounte, “God lee you’re so soft!K I remember when you were in JV and you liked to hit! I’m looking for two hundred pounders! Otis and Mark are my hitters!

— Devonte Wyatt was without his brace and appears to be 100%. Expect him to reenter the defensive line rotation Saturday against Florida.
