Georgia QB Target commits to Missouri – What this means for the Dawgs

One of the Nation’s top 2025 quarterbacks, Matt Zollers, announced his commitment to Missouri on Thursday afternoon. Zollers was down to four schools, including Georgia, Penn State, Missouri, and Pittsburgh. Zollers’ last visit before his commitment was to Athens, but in the end, the Pennsylvania native decided to join Eli Drinkwitz and company.

What does this mean for Georgia?

The Dawgs have yet to receive a quarterback commitment in the 2025 recruiting class, but there are a few potential recruits to keep an eye on. Although Georgia landed a commitment from Class of 2026 five-star QB Jared Curtis, it never hurts to add more talent to the room. Plus, as Kirby Smart mentioned, players are not truly committed somewhere until they have signed the letter of intent.

This leads to the recruitment of five-star QB Julian Lewis. Julian Lewis, out of Carrolton, GA, committed to USC back in August. Soon after this announcement, Lewis announced that he would be reclassifying into the 2025 class (initially the number one QB in the 2026 class). Lewis has visited the Dawgs twice since his reclassification, once in early February, and once to watch the Dawgs’ spring practice in March. Keep an eye out on Lewis’s journey because as we know, recruiting is very fluid these days.

Another player to look out for is Findlay, Ohio’s Ryan Montgomery. Montgomery, like Lewis, has also visited Georgia twice in 2024. He attends former NFL QB Ben Roethlisberger’s High School, and he even broke Roethlisberger’s single-game passing record with 491 yards. Montgomery recorded 3377 total passing yards (38 TDs) and 257 rushing yards (10 TDs) during his Junior season. He released his top five schools in August, and they consisted of Georgia, Florida, Michigan, South Carolina, and Penn State.
