Kirby Knows, SEC Defense Is All about Quality Depth

Kirby Smart has talked about Georgia’s lack of depth since day one. Many Georgia fans may not fully understand the background of Smart’s continuing concern about quality depth in every position group, but it is real – not just coachspeak.
 
 
Here is a quote from Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema pulled from a recent ESPN interview by Dan Matthews of Gridiron Now:
 

“After that first year, it became very evident the depth of the defensive line in this league is uncomparable to anything I’ve ever seen,” Bielema said. “The depth — I don’t think that could be any more apparent than in the championship game this year with Alabama. … Usually, you get six, eight, maybe nine defensive linemen rolling through, but they had 12 players that played significant roles in their defense up front.”
