Roquan Smith spoke with the media on Monday morning as Georgia continues to prepare for the Rose Bowl against Oklahoma. Despite the team’s success this season, the junior inside linebacker mentions that there are still things the 2017 Bulldogs want to achieve. Because of the unfinished business, Smith says the team doesn’t plan on getting complacent around here.

But us as a team we know not to be complacent as well,” Smith says. “We have a lot of things we have in mind that we would like to do and achieve this year and were not done yet, so that’s just part of it. We don’t plan on getting complacent around here.”

He said that Georgia will stick to what they have all season and approach the Rose Bowl like it was just another game on any other week. If the Bulldogs can do this, Smith says they should be able to take care of business.

We’re going to approach it like any other week,” Smith mentions. “We can’t get out of our character and we have to do what got us here. So we feel like if we do what got us here, we should be able to take care of business.”

By not getting out of character and listening to what the coaches have taught them this season, the Georgia football team should avoid complacency. There’s one thing to note about Smith and the rest of the team, they have unfinished business and they won’t stop until it’s complete. Complacency isn’t a word this team knows, and after the one slip up earlier in the season, it’s evident they will do whatever it takes to avoid it and stay humble. Smith noted that on Monday, with his simple statement of, “we don’t plan on getting complacent around here.” Looks like that’s the motto and the Bulldogs sticking to it.
