Smart’s Bulldogs have “something to prove” in The Orange Bowl

The Georgia Bulldogs are preparing for their Orange Bowl matchup with Florida State, a game that some football fans have titled “The Consolation Bowl”. However, sophomore tight end Oscar Delp, when discussing the importance of the game, said that, “we’ve got something to prove”, and that the team wants to use the game as “a springboard into next year.”

In this day and age of college football, most teams and their fanbase consider a loss on championship weekend as the end of the season, especially if it ends their College Football Playoff hopes. After Georgia’s heartbreaking loss to Alabama in the SEC Championship earlier this month, the Bulldogs seemed to be the latest team to call it quits on the 2023 campaign, as their dreams of three-straight national titles came to an end.

However, Head Coach Kirby Smart believes his team is ready for their upcoming matchup with the Seminoles. When discussing preparation for the game, he said, “The leadership on this team has been absolutely incredible, because what I hear from other coaches about these type games, it’s been a nightmare for them. It has not been a nightmare for us.” As the Bulldogs travel south to Miami, Georgia fans should be excited to watch their team that will certainly be prepared mentally and physically for the program’s sixth-straight New Year’s Six Bowl appearance.

Yes, it will be difficult for Bulldog Nation to watch four other teams compete in this year’s College Football Playoff, but winning the Orange Bowl will let everyone know that the Georgia Bulldogs will remain the team to beat for years to come.
