[su_spacer size=”40″] The Rams have now selected the last two Bulldogs who were first round picks after St. Louis took linebacker Alec Ogletree with the 30th overall pick in 2013.  Gurley is the 15th Georgia player that the Rams (either St. Louis, Los Angeles or Cleveland) have picked since 1942.

[su_spacer size=”20″] Gurley is the 30th Georgia player to go in the first round since Frank Sinkwich was taken as the No. 1 pick in the 1943 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions.  Gurley becomes the first running back to be selected in the first round of the NFL Draft since 2012.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Gurley also becomes the 75th Georgia player drafted to the NFL in the Mark Richt era and the 305th Bulldogs taken all-time.  The last Georgia tailback taken in the NFL Draft before Gurley was Knowshon Moreno after the Denver Broncos selected him with the 12th overall pick in 2009.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Gurley, a 6-1, 232-pound from Tarboro, N.C., spent three exceptional seasons with the Bulldogs from 2012-14.  He posted 18 100-yard rushing games, 44 career touchdowns (36 rushing, six receiving, two kickoff returns), 4,322 all-purpose yards, 3,285 rushing yards and a UGA career record of 6.44 average yards gained per rush.  Gurley’s career touchdown and yardage totals rank second in school history only behind Bulldog legend Herschel Walker.

[su_spacer size=”20″] Gurley was voted the team’s offensive MVP following a 2014 season in which he accumulated 911 rushing yards and nine touchdowns on 123 carries despite playing in just six games.  Gurley was also named to the 2013 AP All-SEC Second Team as a sophomore and during his freshman season in 2012, he was named a Freshman All-American after becoming just the second true freshman (Herschel Walker) in Georgia history to rush for more than 1,000 yards in his freshman season.
