Lonnie Johnson Jr. Chooses Kentucky over Memphis and Georgia

Just a couple of weeks ago Georgia Defensive Coordinator Mel Tucker made a trip out to Kansas to visit an impressive 6 foot 3 and 205 lbs class of 2017 junior college defensive back prospect at Garden City Community College, and just 5 short days later, the Bulldogs offered Lonnie Johnson Jr. a scholarship. UGA quickly became one of the top schools Johnson was considering including Kentucky and West Virginia, and he and his family decided to take an official visit to Athens to see the Georgia campus and program just this past weekend. This evening, he announced his decision on which college he choose to commit to.

 

 

His journey to play division 1 FBS football began several years ago when he graduated from West Side High School in Gary, Indiana, but he didn’t quite off the academics to qualify; so, then began the hard work through the junior college system. And that is exactly what he did. This afternoon his journey brought him back to his high school Alma mater in Gary, IN where he announced his decision to commit to the University of Kentucky over Memphis, Georgia and West Virginia shortly after 6:30 p.m. ET.
