UGA Commit Spotlight: Jake Fromm

Jake Fromm
Jake Fromm

Jake Fromm is the Bulldogs second five-star quarterback in the past two years and he has been just as an effective recruiter as his Santa Claus counterpart Richard LeCounte III.

Jake Fromm is a five-star quarterback from Houston County in Georgia and he was Kirby Smart’s very first flip in the Bulldogs’ 2017 class. Smart flipped Fromm from his former mentor Alabama head coach Nick Saban. Fromm was a huge steal for Smart and his commitment just added another outspoken recruiter for the Bulldogs class.

Fromm is a very talented quarterback, who had an amazing season as he totaled 3,910 passing yards, 41 touchdowns, and 9 interceptions through 10 games. Fromm also displayed his outstanding athletic ability this season as he finished with 351 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 106 carries. Fromm’s numbers are a great example of his elite passing ability, but also his underrated athleticism.

Fromm may have had some impressive numbers on the field, but he has worked even harder off the field in helping put together the Bulldogs 2017 class. He took part in three of the Bulldogs commitment videos along with the class’s other leader Richard LeCounte III. Fromm has been very vocal at camps and on social media about wanting other top recruits to join him in the Bulldogs class and he’s definitely helped sway some players to join this class.

Fromm will most likely not be starting as a freshman because of the presence of sophomore quarterback Jacob Eason, but he will definitely give Eason some fierce competition in practice. Although Fromm will probably not start next year, I believe this along with practicing against a SEC defense will be very beneficial for him and his development.

The former Georgia quarterback that always comes to my mind, when I think of Fromm, is Aaron Murray. Murray had the same elite passing ability and underrated athletic ability that I think Fromm possesses and it will be interesting to see if Fromm can have just as a successful career as the former Bulldogs star.
