Greg is closing in on 11 years writing about and photographing UGA sports. While often wrong and/or out of focus, it has been a long, strange trip full of fun and new friends.

HunkerDown1MoreTime  They have not made a bunch of offers at the position.  After this year’s class, They may shift the scholly to another position group unless someone very talented pops up.

  2. Doc R

dsw61 HunkerDown1MoreTime And don’t forget those teen boy with the coach sleepovers!!!!!

  3. dsw61

HunkerDown1MoreTime He may just be using closing techniques used in sales. A 17 year old away from home is no match for a coach who goes for the hard close using proven sales tactics. I also don’t think his mom was with him on the visit. I wonder if he talked to her before he committed.

  4. HunkerDown1MoreTime

Interesting to see who the staff has as their plan B and C – DT. I’m sure Kirby has a contingency plan lined up. Old Jimmy Boy selling Michigan hard.

  5. DawgDaddy

I was just thinking that if Aubrey does indeed sign with Meat Chicken and then Otis decides to visit him during the dead of winter would Otis then decide to attend a warmer climate school?  If indeed he did would Solomon then feel like Harbaugh kind of snookered him, lol.

I just don’t see many southern kids enjoying being in that kind of cold.  I know I hated playing in the cold back in the day.

  6. DawgDaddy

Bansai buckeroo I’m hoping it is just a temporary thing and he comes to his senses.

  7. DawgDaddy

RumRunnerDoogie Yep, folks in Michigan did not know who Aubrey was until just a few weeks ago.  lol

  8. Hobnailboot aka RobG

rugbydawg79 bahits dsw61 research the temp control on the model you want some are notorious for failure….the new Traeger’s fall into this category, the ones that were made in the USA are good but they have moved the manufacturing to china and they have not had good reviews since

  9. RumRunnerDoogie

Greg Poole i dont think they have many slots opening do they? seems they got a heavy underclassman DL class on campus

  10. Hobnailboot aka RobG

rugbydawg79 bahits dsw61 the cool thing about them is you have way more control over the temperature but with all the flavor of wood fire and smoke

  11. rugbydawg79

DawgByte RumRunnerDoogie 1mandawgpack Where did you play Rugby ? Contact me –EC knows how to get me

  12. rugbydawg79

bahits dsw61 I have always been a traditional Weber Charcoal man-but you fellers have me looking at these pellet grills–Green Mountain

  13. 1mandawgpack

NSD is a long way away so CKS and staff have plenty of time to change his mind. Plus Ann Arbor is a long way from Leesburg and he’s a mama’s boy, so that will factor into where he ultimately signs as well.

  14. Bulldawg36

Long way to go with Solomon’s recruiting. Buts its gonna be hard to pull him away from Harbaugh..he will be Skypeing him everyday!!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. Hobnailboot aka RobG

Panic Fan Colonial Dawg @Panic Fan I sure do miss the awesome music you find

  16. Hobnailboot aka RobG

bahits dsw61 I’ve got to get me a pellet grill those things are awesome

  17. bahits

Greg Poole Kids should have to go up there for a week in January.  The tundra is not a fun place to keep up your conditioning.  Falling on that crap is like concrete.

Kirby needs to set up a walk in freezer and whenever a kid is thinking about that place or OSU, he invites them in for an hour or two long talk.  Kirby wears coat, gloves, ski mask, long johns and the recruit wears whatever he came in.

  18. bahits

dsw61 I have 2 beer can chickens (one Garlic pepper the other lemon pepper) on the pellet grill right now.  Done in about 40 more minutes.  🙂

  19. Greg Poole

This probably more about Harbaugh holding a camp just for him,at least, I’m sure that was the message.

  20. JaxDawg

Lol recruiting is such a joke sometimes. I don’t know of any other DT we are going to take for this class. Guess his visit to us wasn’t that great

  21. Greg Poole

DawgByte I think he will. He certainly got a lot of attention in Athens recently:

  22. DawgByte

Bulldawg36 I’m smoking some whole organic chickens and drinking Margaritas. That’s about as international as I get today.

  23. DawgByte

    Bulldawg36 You hairy dawgs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  24. Greg Poole

66DAWGnNC Oh, not at all. They post some good stuff. It just tickles me when any fan site makes declarations like that.

  25. 66DAWGnNC

Greg Poole Thanks EC. Don’t ban me for reading FSF. If the headline is catchy, I will glance at the article lol. Just thought their “report” was interesting in light of what I had read a few months back.

  26. Greg Poole

66DAWGnNC  LOL – He has made several favorable comments to various pay-sites that have been favorable to Georgia. I’m sure those reports are the source of FSF’s “trends”.

  27. 66DAWGnNC

RumRunnerDoogie Didn’t realize he was once committed to the “Fighting Leprechauns.” Last I read it didn’t appear we had a shot, especially with his transfer to IMG. So I haven’t kept up with him. Like others believe, I think if we can sign 10+ of the top 25 players in the State every year, we WILL compete for both the SEC and the NC every season.

  28. RumRunnerDoogie

66DAWGnNC seems good, he was a one time ND commit but it seems that has worn off for him

  29. 66DAWGnNC

FSF reporting UGA “trending” with the LB Beale. Stated 13 of 15 CB’s to UGA. What are the thoughts here? At one point it appeared he was a ND lock. Go Kirby.

  30. JaxDawg

Cam Akers keeps getting Ohio State CBs, thinking we are on the outside looking in for this one. Really hope we can land swift

  31. Greg Poole

DawgByte It is hard to say right now. You can check any of the ticket broker sights to get a starting point – StubHub shows a get-in of about $180 right now.

  32. Panic Fan

Colonial Dawg I’m going to see them at Pisgah Brewing, out in Black Mountain, on Tuesday!!

  33. dsw61

GoBigDog dsw61 Yeah; it’s “Gerry”. I grew up in New Hampshire a huge Bruins fan and the other Goalie was “Eddie” Johnston. I’m getting old:)

  34. Colonial Dawg

While it’s off topic, I’m excited.  Got tickets to see Bruce Hornsby and Ricky Scaggs in Williamsburg Friday night.  Should be a blast.  This is BH’s home town.

  35. RumRunnerDoogie

DawgByte RumRunnerDoogie 1mandawgpack well most rucks were pretty much wrestling anyways haha

  36. DawgByte

RumRunnerDoogie 1mandawgpack At Rugby practice my coach was teaching us how to ruck.  I went in and took his legs out instead of going for the ball. He didn’t much care for that, so he pulled me aside and said “Here’s the ball, I’m going to show you how I remove it.” It turned into a giant wrestling match with the whole team gathered around us. He buried his elbow into my ribs, put his knee into my groin and engaged in all sorts of dirty tricks. After about 5 minutes he got the ball. I said, “Okay now it’s my turn.” Again we went at it, I picked him up over my shoulder and body slammed him to the ground (I was only 16 and he was a grown man). After about 5 minutes I got the ball from him.

I didn’t think anything of it. The team got some entertainment and a break from practice.

  37. RumRunnerDoogie

Greg Poole haws1178 RumRunnerDoogie think i just triggered all of yall into schroom flashbacks

  38. RumRunnerDoogie

1mandawgpack im not that far removed from HS and we had a DC who in practice picked up a db and ran down the rb and threw him at him for not going full speed

  39. DawgByte

I wonder if we have offers out to Navaugh Donaldson, Alex Leatherwood and Marquis Hayes? They all showed up extremely well in the 5 Star Challenge. Big dudes too!!!

  40. Greg Poole

1mandawgpack True. I just meant that the price will continue to rise if the news is good from Athens in the lead-up to the game.

  41. 1mandawgpack

Greg Poole 1mandawgpack  Agreed and think they will be steep anyway as UGA sells out a 90k+ seat stadium 90 minutes from Atlanta most Saturdays and this game will be in Atlanta with a stadium that only holds a little over 60k.  It really doesn’t matter whether or not UNC sends fans to the game.

  42. 1mandawgpack

I think the Propst decision is ridiculous.  If they think what he did to that kid is bad, then they could suspend many other coaches for far worse.  I remember when I played coaches would grab your facemask to get your attention when you screwed up and if we weren’t focused at practice, our coaches would make us do “up/downs” and “squat thrusts” for hours with no breaks or water.  The problem with Propst is that it was caught on camera for the world to see.  The natives in Moultrie will be restless with this suspension.

  43. Greg Poole

1mandawgpack If UGA gets to the game with no significant injuries and it looks like Chubb will contribute, the prices should be pretty steep.

  44. 1mandawgpack

Greg Poole 1mandawgpack  I have a buddy who works for the CFA-PB.  So, for once, I was able to use connections to score some decent tickets.  He couldn’t comp them for me, but I got great seats at face value, so I guess I can’t complain as I have a feeling that the scalpers are going to have a good day for that game.

  45. Greg Poole

1mandawgpack  Yep. I’m looking forward to it also – we just ordered our credentials from the CFA folks.

  46. 1mandawgpack

Locked down my dome tickets yesterday – geez I’m going to have to get a second job to help pay for them but am very excited to be attending the game that will kick off the CKS era at UGA.

  47. 1mandawgpack

RumRunnerDoogie Greg Poole  The only way it could have bee even more inappropriate is if it was 69 days before kickoff.

  48. 1mandawgpack

I tell you what’s groovy – this weather.  We needed a break from the intense heat and this overcast cool day is a welcome relief.

  49. DawgDaddy

Hobnailboot aka RobG Saw them like at the Otis Redding Home Coming Show at City Auditorium in Macon in 65/66 ? I was a mere young’un of about 18.

  50. RumRunnerDoogie

Greg Poole RumRunnerDoogie they arent well versed in the youngin lingo sure the caddies get a kick out of it

  51. RumRunnerDoogie

Greg Poole summer hummer….?? oh boy thats a very questionable statement for people my age hahaha

  52. RumRunnerDoogie

Greg Poole well when u have 96% returning in fournette alone im sure that helps

  53. Hobnailboot aka RobG

Lucas Rogers hopefully it’s an inside wedding, too hot to be in a suit today

  54. Hobnailboot aka RobG

When there is no football and it’s too hot to fish is why I sing the blues

  55. Hobnailboot aka RobG

Greg Poole That’s a good thing this time of year, if Rivers was still on the team there would be some news

  56. Greg Poole

rugbydawg79 TV money and they are getting traction in Europe and Asia. That sport is the U.S. pro sport mostly likely to translate worldwide and  with the small rosters makes international travel feasible.

  57. rugbydawg79

Greg Poole which is amazing -I know very few who watch on a regular basis-seems most folks get interested at the end

  58. Greg Poole

My news feed is dead this morning – high point of the summer doldrums (or low point, depending on one’s perspective)

  59. DawgDaddy

Greg Poole That big guy cheering him on in the front of the vid sure can move fast, haha.

  60. Hobnailboot aka RobG

RobDawg Dang, be careful in the heat it will sneak up on you if you are not careful

  61. Jesse1

Hobnailboot aka RobG Greg Poole The author must see something in Ramsey other than a big leg, and expand a view vision wrap arounds for Lambert.

  62. RobDawg

Just getting ready to start day two down here in Savannah. It was 104 the highest I saw on temp gauge and I snapped this pic while we were driving out from the course

  63. Hobnailboot aka RobG

Greg Poole the author doesn’t have a clue if he thinks Eason Redshirts
