TODAY’S FEATURED PROSPECTS

If position ranking is noted, it is 247 Sports latest composite ranking of the player.

JAMES COOK

CLASS: 2018

POSITION: No. 3 RB

HT, WT: 5 foot 11.5, and 191 lbs

SCHOOL: Miami-Central High School

CITY, STATE: Miami, FL

STATUS: Undeclared

UGA OFFER: Yes, offered on 01/17/2016.

# OFFERS: 19

NEWS & NOTES: Cook was offered by Georgia at the first of last year, and fast forward to 2017, UGA found itself in his top 8. Cook visited the Dogs on April 8th and a few months later, de-committed from FSU on July 4th. After his de-commitment, he was back in Athens with his family during the weekend of July 22nd. Cook is expected to decide between UGA and FSU when he makes his final decision, but as of right now, he is a big Bulldog lean and Georgia is considered the leader here. It looks like he will try to visit for the Dog’s season opener agaisnt Appalachian State.

ZION CUSTIS

CLASS: 2018

POSITION: No. 93

HT, WT: 5 foot 7.5, and 180 lbs

SCHOOL: Lovejoy High School

CITY, STATE: Lovejoy, GA

STATUS: Undeclared

UGA OFFER: No.

# OFFERS: 1

NEWS & NOTES: Custis is not the biggest RB at 5 foot 7.5 and 180 lbs, but he will remind you of Thomas Brown or one-time Bulldog tailback J.J. Green. He runs more like he is 5 foot 11.5 and 215 lbs. As a junior at Lovejoy High School, he put up 1,487 yards and 12 touchdowns on 187 carries, and it looks like he has continued where he left off last season, putting up 278 yards and 6 touchdowns on 31 carries in a 41 – 28 win over East Coweta, setting a new school record. He camped and visited UGA back in June but didn’t get an offer as the Dogs top targets are Zamir White and James Cook. However, keep your eye on Custis this season because someone is going to take a chance on the Lovejoy star. The Wildcats travel on the road to Mundy Mill this Friday.

TYLER GOODSON

CLASS: 2019

POSITION: RB

HT, WT: 5 foot 10, and 185 lbs

SCHOOL: North Gwinnett High School

CITY, STATE: Suwanee, GA

STATUS: Undeclared

UGA OFFER: No.

# OFFERS: N/A

NEWS & NOTES: Goodson ran strong for North Gwinnett behind 2018 UGA OT commit Warren Ericson and the o-line on Saturday versus Walton in the Corky Kell Classic, but the Bulldogs came up just short and fell 31-28. The 2019 prospect doesn’t have any offers as of yet, but if he continues to play like he did over the weekend, I expect that to change. Goodson and N. Gwinnett hit the road this weekend for a matchup versus Milton on August 25th.

NEWS & NOTES: Griffin along with his teamate 2018 Jalynn Sykes make a potent one-two punch at RB for Rome. Last season, as a sophomore, Griffin carried the ball 201 times for 1,443 yards and 25 touchdowns. He has visited Georgia but doesn’t have an offer as of yet; however, there is interest here from the coaching staff and from the junior RB. Griffin, Sykes and that potent Rome defense open their season by hosting 2018 QB Justin Fields and Harrison High School on Friday, August 25th.
