Greg is closing in on 15 years writing about and photographing UGA sports. While often wrong and/or out of focus, it has been a long, strange trip full of fun and new friends.

RumRunnerDoogie Avon Barksdale LeCounte being the most important of them all right now.  That kid has skills and he is our #1 recruiter without limitations!

  2. MMCSDAWG

Greg Poole BahitsDawg I think he said it was due the weekend of our first game, around Sept 3rd or 4th!

BahitsDawg  IDK – I think they are real close to a delivery date, are they not?

  4. Avon Barksdale

    Great points!
For whatever reason, it’s tough for me to think we’ll get both him AND Jacoby Stevens, but man can you imagine that duo back there?!?!

Can’t wait to see how Gibbs’ recruitment ends. It’s amazing how these recruiting battles take on a life of their own. The Tennessee sites are convinced he’s going to Tennessee. So I do a little research to try and figure out why he’s a Vol lock. First thing I stumble on is a statement from him that he doesn’t have a dream school. Then there’s an interview back in 2015 where he’s asked about what he thinks about Warrior saying the two of them are a package deal. He basically says that the package deal is a possibility, but he’s going to do his own due diligence and go where he feels is right for him. As best as I can tell, Gibbs’ only connection to Tennessee is that his uncle Dale Carter once played there and his cousin Nigel Warrior committed to them in 2016.

I find it hard to believe that those two things make him a Vol lock when you consider he’s from Georgia, his best friend and teammate Breon Dixon is committed to Georgia, and his cousin J.R. Reed who he trained with in Dallas during the last five or six summers will enroll in August. J.R. Reed was also being recruited by Tennessee. It’s logical to think that part of his decision to come to Georgia had to do with the coaching he’ll get under Tucker and Kirby. With Jake Reed playing in the NFL, you would expect him to be able to spot good coaches and guide his son accordingly. It also seems that Jake Reed has been fairly involved in Gibbs’ development as a football player and has been a very good influence on him.

Frankly Avon Barksdale I am stoked we got him, he will be a bigger plus than some think!

Greg Poole BahitsDawg  That’s what I was going to point out.  While the numbers are what they are, the way that the study would have been improved significantly is to also show the number of elite players by state on a per capita basis.  Using that metric, Georgia would have been, by far, the #1 state in the study.  It’s exactly the same reason why a 6A school in Georgia should have far more elite athletes than a 1A school based upon the sheer size of the population being compared.

Greg Poole I have mixed feelings on all this.  I would pay EA to have my image running in a game like Jim Brown.

Greg Poole BahitsDawg  Agree 100%.  No detail is too small to escape CKS’ attention, so I fully expect our coaches and players to have covered virtually every scenario that could possibly arise during the game.

BahitsDawg  “We” have a different staff than for Boise. Kirby has been a part of Bama’s prep for several Dome games. It is all a part of attention to detail #ATD

RumRunnerDoogie AlphaDawg MMCSDAWG I can’t imagine which Demetrius Robinson you could be referring to. I mean wide receiver.

  12. BahitsDawg

If any of you have the ear of any Georgia coaches, please ask them to do some silent count drills leading up to the opener in the dome.

We will have more fans there and they will be excited as all get out.  (remembering the Boise game)   Our fans will be unbelievably loud and will not yet be in strategic cheering mode (takes a few games).  They will yell at the wrong time and generally make it hard for teams to operate.  (Remember Boise – they prepped for the crowd noise and expected it since they were on our turf, we didn’t and we had lots of mistakes and penalties)

Pipe in crowd noise.  Prep silent counts.

I sure wish we had the IPF for simulation purposes.

AlphaDawg RumRunnerDoogie MMCSDAWG lol WR recruits have a tendency to “play the game”

  14. BahitsDawg

Frankly JaxDawg Bama now has to share some with us.   That helps the frozen tundra schools a little in overall rankings.

  15. MMCSDAWG

Greg Poole I love this kid and I think we are in for a treat when he’s anchoring that RG spot!

  16. BahitsDawg

Greg Poole He is going to be fun to watch over the next few years and the rest of his career.

Falcons…. knock, knock, knock   Falcons?  Are you home?

  17. RumRunnerDoogie

AlphaDawg MMCSDAWG i wouldnt look into that too much, WRs are the glory hounds of football after all

  18. MMCSDAWG

AlphaDawg MMCSDAWG Coley’s name tag!!!  I like it, but these receivers sure have a way of trying to play mind games with fan bases!
