TODAY’S FEATURED PROSPECTS

If position ranking is noted, unless otherwise stated, it is 247 Sports latest composite ranking of the player.

TAYLOR CARTER

CLASS: 2019

POSITION: Athlete – CB, RB, Kick return specialist

HT, WT: 5 foot 9, and 180 lbs

SCHOOL: Eastside High School

CITY, STATE: Covington, GA

STATUS: Undeclared

UGA OFFER: No.

# OFFERS: N/A

NEWS & NOTES: Taylor Carter doesn’t have an offer from UGA as of yet, but he did take an unofficial visit to Georgia this past weekend on Jan. 27th.

While certainly not the biggest prospect at athlete for 2019, Carter continues to work hard off the field to develop his frame. Last year, as a junior at Eastside, he carried the ball 95 times in ten games for 607 yards and 7 rushing touchdowns. He also had 22 receptions for 152 yards and another two scores, and he had 10 kickoff returns for 207 yards. In total, he touched the ball 127 times and had 966 yards from scrimmage with 9 scores.

Carter’s junior season production is an uptick from his sophomore season which saw him 110 times for 684 yards and 9 touchdowns. Keep your eye on Eastside’s No. 8 this fall.

MARQUEZ EZZARD

CLASS: 2018

POSITION: No. 18 Athlete – DB, WR

HT, WT: 6 foot 1.5, and 213 lbs

SCHOOL: Stockbridge High School

CITY, STATE: Stockbridge, GA

STATUS: Undeclared

UGA OFFER: Yes, UGA offered on 01/05/2017

# OFFERS: 28

NEWS & NOTES: The Bulldogs offered Marquez Ezzard back in January of last year, and he put UGA in his top-8 on 04/27/2017. Georgia was thought to be a favorite early on, but he ended up committing to FSU on July 21st. Several months later, Ezzard reopened up his recruitment, de-committing from the Seminoles on Nov. 11th.

Ezzard took an official visit to Ole Miss on Jan. 19th and is coming off a visit to Miami this past weekend on Jan. 26th. He’s already taking one official to Oregon back on Nov. 17th. Is Ezzard an option for Georgia with their 5 plus remaining spots?

It’s possible, but Georgia’s 2018 class has only a few spots left. The Bulldogs have 20 signees with two other players currently committed who have yet to sign, Jordan Davis and Tramel Walthour; although, either one of those two committed prospects could potentially end up signing elsewhere.

While Ezzard can play either WR or DB, I don’t think the Georgia staff would take more than one more receiver in the 2018 class in addition to Kearis Jackson and Tommy Bush looks like he could be coming to Athens and they have Tyson Campbell, Isaac Taylor-Stuart, and Leonard O’Neal most likely higher on their board at DB.

To me, the Hurricanes are the favorite to land Ezzard, but he did have a good official visit to Ole Miss.

MARIO GOODRICH

<CLASS: 2018

POSITION: No. 4 Athlete – CB, WR, Return specialist

HT, WT: 6 foot 2, and 180 lbs

SCHOOL: Lee’s Summit West High School

CITY, STATE: Lee’s Summit, MO

STATUS: Undeclared

UGA OFFER: Yes, UGA offered on 08/01/2017.

# OFFERS: 19

NEWS & NOTES: UGA offered Mario Goodrich back in August and he took an official visit to Georgia on Jan. 19th. He also took an official to LSU the previous weekend on Jan. 12th and is just coming off an official to Clemson over the weekend on Jan. 26th. He had been committed to Nebraska but de-committed from the Cornhuskers on Dec. 2nd.

Right now, I think Goodrich likely lands at LSU but he had a very good visit to UGA and you can never count out Coach Dabo and Clemson when it comes to recruiting.

JAYLIN SIMPSON

CLASS: 2019

POSITION: No. 19 Athlete – CB, WR, Return specialist

HT, WT: 5 foot 11, and 165 lbs

SCHOOL: Frederica Academy High School

CITY, STATE: St. Simons Island, GA

STATUS: Undeclared

UGA OFFER: Yes, UGA offered 03/17/2017.

# OFFERS: 15

NEWS & NOTES: Jalyin Simpson has over 15 scholarship offers so far, including one from the Bulldogs who offered the Frederica Academy High School athlete back last March on the 17th.

Simpson is a fast and dynamic football player whether he is on offense at WR or tailback, wreaking havoc in the secondary on defense, or as a returner on special teams. Simpson will remind you a lot of current Georgia WR and return specialist Mecole Hardman, Jr., and Frederica uses Simpson a lot like Elbert County did Hardman.

ISAIAH WILLIAMS

CLASS: 2019

POSITION: No. 3 Athlete – DB, QB, SB, WR

HT, WT: 5 foot 11, and 170 lbs

SCHOOL: Trinity Catholic High School

CITY, STATE: St. Louis, MO

STATUS: Undeclared

UGA OFFER: Yes, UGA offered on Jan. 18th.

# OFFERS: 48

NEWS & NOTES: Georgia offered Isaiah Williams earlier last week on Jan. 18th. The talented athlete plays basketball and football for Trinity Catholic High School out of St. Louis, MO, and he does a little bit of everything for the TCHS Titans on the gridiron at QB, SB, and WR on offense and in the secondary on defense. He also plays on special teams and punts the ball.

While his height may limit him from playing QB at the collegiate level and beyond, there is no denying that Williams is a playmaker with the ball in his hands, and college programs across the country have noticed his ability as well. Williams has over 48 scholarship offers so far. The big question here for Isaiah, is what position is the best fit for him at the next level? I really like him on offense at WR. And he is another player that will remind you very much of Mecole Hardman, Jr.
