[su_spacer size=”20″] The Georgia men’s golf team stands fifth after two rounds of the 3M Augusta Invitational at Forest Hills Golf Club.
[su_spacer size=”40″] The Bulldogs played 36 holes on Saturday, posting a 1-under 287 in the first round and then exploding for an 11-under 277 in the second for a total of 12-under 564.
[su_spacer size=”40″] New Mexico has the team lead at 18-under 558, followed by Illinois at 17-under 559, host GRU Augusta at 15-under 561 and Virginia Tech at 14-under 562. The Bulldogs are tied with Texas for fifth.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Junior Lee McCoy, who has claimed medalist honors at the Bulldogs’ last two events, is in the hunt for another title. McCoy carded identical rounds of 4-under 68 for a total of 8-under 136. McCoy is tied for second, just one shot in back of Illinois’ Brian Campbell (135).
[su_spacer size=”40″] Senior Mookie DeMoss followed McCoy in eighth at 5-under 139, including a second-round 4-under 68. Freshman Zach Healy (2-over 74 and 2-under 70) is at even-par 144, followed by sophomore Jaime Lopez Rivarola (2-over 74, 1-under 71) at 1-over 145 and junior Sepp Straka (2-over 74 and even-par 72) at 2-over 146.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Playing as an individual, sophomore Greyson Sigg – an Augusta native – had rounds of 2-under 70 and 1-under 71 to stand 15th at 3-under 141.
