Mimi Burke has been named assistant women’s golf coach for the Georgia Bulldogs, head coach Josh Brewer announced on Friday. Burke, a former standout golfer at Appalachian State, has spent the previous two seasons as an assistant coach at Purdue.

“I’m excited to add Mimi to our staff,” Brewer said. “She brings two years of experience learning under Devon (Brouse), a two-time hall-of-famer, at Purdue. We look forward to the knowledge she will add to our program.”

Prior to her stint with the Boilermakers, Burke was the assistant professional at River Run Country Club in Davidson, N.C., and also worked with the PGA’s Valero Texas Open in San Antonio.

“I am extremely honored to be joining the University of Georgia family,” Burke said. “I’m excited for the opportunity to learn under another one of the best college coaches in the nation. Coach Brewer is committed to success at Georgia and with the core group of players coming back from last year, it’s an exciting time for the Dawg Nation.”

At River Run, Burke helped with the staging of several major tournaments, including the Web.com Tour’s Chiquita Classic, and assisted with golf operations including youth camps and tournaments.

Burke’s duties with the Texas Open included coordinating the PGA Tour event’s Executive Women’s Day, developing the player handbook and overseeing player activities with local companies. She also oversaw ticket elements, supervised hospitality tents and provided additional support throughout the tournament staff.

Burke was a four-year letterwinner at Appalachian State from 2009-13, where she posted the 10th-best stroke average in school history. She notched a career-best fourth-place finish at the 2012 Dayton/Hilton Head Invitational and also recorded the seventh-best 54-hole score ever by a Mountaineer at the 2012 Morehead State Ocala Invitational.

A native of Mooresville, N.C., Burke earned her bachelor’s degree in management from Appalachian State in 2013.
