Georgia’s Jenny Bae was named the SEC Freshman of the Week on Wednesday, three days after she finished ninth individually at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate.

Bae, who is from Suwanee, Ga., graduated from Collins Hill High School early and joined the Bulldogs’ roster in January. She shot 2-over 215 last weekend to notch her third top-10 finish in four tournaments this spring. The Darius Rucker field featured five of the nation’s top-10 ranked golfers and 21 of the top-50.

Bae fired a career-low 2-under 69 in the second round and lowered her season stroke average to 72.70. She has posted counting scores for Georgia in all 10 rounds she’s played for the Bulldogs.

Bae has now ascended to No. 30 Golfstat’s individual national rankings. Georgia’s freshman class is currently ranked No. 1 in the nation by Golfstat. In addition to Bae, Harmie Constantino is ranked No. 54 and Jo-Hua Hung is ranked No. 169.

Georgia will return to action later this month when the Bulldogs compete in the PING/ASU Invitational on March 29-31 at Papago Golf Course in Tempe, Ariz.
