Five Gymdogs were recognized by the Southeastern Conference on Thursday as the league announced its All-SEC and All-Freshman teams.

Mary Beth Box, Brandie Jay, Brittany Rogers and Rachel Schick were named to the All-SEC team. Additionally, Sydney Snead received Freshman All-SEC honors. The five Georgia gymnasts among the two groups represented the most among any school in the conference.

“We are proud of all five of these athletes,” said Georgia head coach Danna Durante. “They consistently represent Georgia with great class. Our seniors continue to be exceptional leaders both on and off the competition floor.”

The All-SEC team is comprised of gymnasts who received either the best or second-best score in a respective event in the session in which the gymnast competed at the SEC Championship in North Little Rock, Arkansas. The All-Freshman team included freshmen gymnasts with the top score in each event in the gymnasts’ respective session at Verizon Arena.

Jay reached All-SEC status in all four events and in the all-around, posting a 39.575 all-around score to claim her highest-ever mark outside of Stegeman Coliseum. She tied for first in vault overall at the championship with a stellar 9.95 score, and she claimed a trio of 9.875s on bars, beam and floor.

Box posted the top score on floor in the afternoon session with a 9.925. She was the only gymnast in the first session to crack a 9.9. Rogers qualified for the All-SEC team with a 9.9 on vault, finishing second only behind Jay. Schick claimed the highest score on bars in the first session with a 9.9.

Snead was rewarded with a spot on the All-Freshman team with a freshman-best 9.85 on bars in the first session.

Jay was also named to the SEC Community Service team last week.

The ninth-ranked, 10th-seeded Gymdogs will host a NCAA regional on Saturday, April 2 at 4 p.m. in Stegeman Coliseum.
