The 2017 schedule for the Georgia women’s soccer team has been announced by Head Coach Billy Lesesne. The Bulldogs will host nine home games at the Turner Soccer Complex in Athens, GA.

Also of note, Georgia will face seven foes who claimed spots in the 2016 NCAA Tournament, including a trio of opponents advancing to the Sweet 16 or later.

“We look forward to the challenges and opportunities that this schedule provides for our program,” Lesesne said. “This is a balanced schedule filled with several exciting home and away matches. Our non-conference play will prepare us well for SEC action with the ultimate goal of reaching the SEC Tournament in Orange Beach and competing for a NCAA bid.”

The new grandstand and press box renovation project at the Turner Soccer Complex will make its official debut to the public at the first exhibition game on Aug. 10 at 7 p.m. against Auburn. The Bulldogs will then travel to Statesboro for another preseason match against Georgia Southern.

Georgia opens the regular season at home, welcoming Wake Forest to Athens on Friday, Aug. 18 at 7 p.m., followed by High Point on Aug. 20 at 2 p.m.

The Bulldogs head north for their first road game of the season to face Charlotte on Aug. 25 before playing Virginia Tech on Aug. 27 in Blacksburg, Virginia.

Georgia will split two weekends of home and away games before conference play begins. On Friday, Sept. 1, Georgia will face Lipscomb in Nashville, Tennessee before returning home to face Clemson on Sunday, Sept. 3. The following weekend, the Bulldogs travel to Birmingham, Alabama for a game against Samford on Sept. 8, before welcoming Coastal Carolina to Athens on Sept. 10.

The non-conference portion will have the Bulldogs ready for a competitive SEC schedule, as five conference foes finished 2016 with 11 or more wins.

Georgia opens the 10-game SEC slate with two road games. The Bulldogs will travel to face the Missouri Tigers on Sept. 15, before taking on the Ole Miss Rebels on Sept. 21 in Oxford.

Georgia’s first SEC opponent at home will be Vanderbilt on Sunday, Sept. 24 at 2 p.m.

The Bulldogs will face the Florida Gators at the Turner Soccer Complex on Sunday, Oct. 1 at 6 p.m. live on the SEC Network.

Next, Georgia heads to Baton Rouge to take on the Tigers of LSU on Friday, Oct. 5, before returning to Athens to play Texas A&M on Sunday, Oct 8 at 5 p.m. The match against the Aggies is scheduled to be broadcast live on the SEC Network.

Georgia will travel to Knoxville to face the Volunteers (Oct. 13) and welcome the Bulldogs of Mississippi State (Oct. 19) to Athens before its last road game at South Carolina (Oct. 22). The Bulldogs conclude the regular season at home against Kentucky on Oct. 26 before waiting its fate for the SEC Tournament set to take place from Oct. 29-Nov. 5 in Orange Beach, Alabama.
