The tenth-ranked Georgia softball team downed Dayton 12-0 on Sunday and completed a 5-game sweep of the 14th Annual Georgia Classic to remain undefeated and advance to 12-0 on the season.

A grand slam from Lacey Sumerlin highlighted a potent day for the Georgia offense. The sophomore’s first home run of the season was one of 11 hits for Georgia. Sydni Emanuel, Sumerlin, Mahlena O’Neal and Ciara Bryan all had two hits each against the Flyers as the Bulldogs finished the weekend with a strong offensive effort.

Brittany Gray (7-0) threw four innings to earn the win, allowing just two hits while striking out five. Mary Wilson Avant closed out the game after giving up one walk plus a strikeout in four batters faced.

Georgia posted back-to-back three-run innings to start the game, with all three in the first inning coming with two outs. A Maeve McGuire walk got the rally started, and she came around to score on a single from O’Neal. Justice Milz then singled in two more runs for the early 3-0 lead.

The Bulldogs took extra cushion in the second with three unearned runs as S. Emanuel and Sumerlin both claimed RBI in the frame.

Georgia finished off the day with a six-run fourth inning that featured Sumerlin’s grand slam and RBI from S. Emanuel and Bryan.

Georgia heads away from Jack Turner Stadium for the first time this season, as the Bulldogs will participate in the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic in Cathedral City, California. Games run Thursday-Saturday with Georgia opening the tournament with BYU at 1 p.m. ET on Feb. 23.
