SOFTBALL: Georgia Inks Four in Early Signing Period

The University of Georgia softball program has announced the signing of four student-athletes in the early signing period and includes infielder Lacey Fincher, outfielder C.J. Landrum, catcher/utility Jessica Morgan, and infielder Savana Sikes.
 

Lacey Fincher | IF | Tanner Williams, Ala.
 
Fincher makes her way to Athens from Tanner Williams, Alabama. A 6-1 utility player, Fincher is on pace to break Faith Academy High School’s home run record and possibly the state record. She was named Alabama 5A First Team All-State and is expected to break a number of offensive records. During her freshman campaign, she was named First Team Coastal Alabama and Class 5A All-State. She hit .462 with a school record 18 home runs as a sophomore. Last year, she was ASWA Class 5A First Team and Class 5A Hitter of the Year. She was also an AHSSA South All-State. In her prep career, she has a .409 batting average, a .607 on-base percentage and a .836 slugging percentage. She has 54 career home runs, 36 doubles, 14 triples, and 207 RBI.

 

She is the daughter of Jennifer and Frank “Bo” Fincher and has one brother, Luke. Intends to major in Childhood Education at UGA.

 

C.J. Landrum | OF | Fort Worth, Texas
 
Landrum hails from Fort Worth, Texas and brings with her speed and athleticism. She is a three-sport (softball, volleyball, track) varsity athlete at Fort Worth Country Day High School and was one of 30 players invited to the USA Junior Women’s National Team selection camp in Clearwater, Florida. She boasts a speedy 2.6 down the line. She is a two-time SPC All-Conference and an All-Zone selection in softball, an all-zone volleyball player, and broke a 20-year record in the 4×200 and another record in the 4×100 while placing third in the 4×200 in the Texas Relays. She earned Female Athlete of the Year at her high school.

 

She is the daughter of Cynthia and Cedric Landrum. Her father Cedric played Major League Baseball for the Chicago Cubs and the Ney York Mets. She has two brothers, Lonnie and Senterrio. Senterrio played football at Duke University in the mid-90’s.

 

Jessica Morgan | C/UT | Cleveland, Ga.
 
Georgia native Morgan comes to UGA from Cleveland. Last season, she hit an impressive .544 average with 10 home runs while driving in 30, all while striking out just twice on the season at White County High School. From behind the plate, Morgan recorded a 1.7 pop time. She’s a three-time First Team All-Region selection, two-time region player of the year, and an all-state performer as a senior. Away from the softball diamond, Morgan is an active member of FCA and a scholar-athlete in the classroom.

 

Jessica is the daughter of Denise and Kevin Morgan. She plans to major in Health Promotions at UGA.

 

Savana Sikes | IF | Douglasville, Ga.
 
Georgia native Sikes signs with UGA after a successful career at Chapel Hill High School in Douglasville. She has been an all-state selection the first three seasons and an all-region honoree all four years of high school. She was named Region Player of the Year as a junior and senior. Sikes helped guide Chapel Hill a region championship all four seasons including winning the state championship in 2015. An all-around athlete, Sikes was county champion in track, basketball, and softball and was the Douglas County golf champion this year. Outside of athletics, she has been a member of the Beta Club, DECA, and National Honor Society and will graduate with a perfect 4.0 GPA.

 

Savana is the daughter of Lisa and Rocky Sikes. Her sister Sara donned the Georgia softball uniform in 2010. Her other sister, Morgan, played softball at Kennesaw State. She plans to major in business at Georgia.
